Performing Arts Centre
The Hammond School, Chester
This £2.8m new Performing Arts Building opened in the summer of 2008 and provided a much needed facility for one of the North-Westís leading dance and drama schools.
The building contains a number of dance and drama studios, two of which convert into a theatre which can seat an audience of over 350. Other facilities include a new dining area for the school, changing areas and offices.
The external appearance of the building was designed to blend in with the adjacent main school buildings, and to meet the Local Planning Authorityís strict rules for the site.
The building was divided into two phases, with the Music School wing starting on site in the near future.
