This scheme sees the replacement of an early 20th century farmhouse, which is in a
poor condition, with a modern energy efficient six bedroom house.
The new building has been designed in the same proportions as a Lancashire Barn, in
order to blend in with its rural setting. The dwelling is highly insulated and is heated by
a biomass boiler. A number of Photo-Voltaic Panels produce electricity, and Solar
Collectors pre-heat hot water for use in the house.
The new house has been designed to be ‘zero-carbon’‚ which means that it makes
more energy than it uses. Planning permission was granted in the summer of 2008.
