This project was built as part of the government’s ‘Sure Start’ Initiative. The aim is to provide a network of centres across the country which promote childcare, early
education and family support.

This centre was built in the heart of Lancaster’s Ryelands Park, adjacent to the Listed
Ryelands House. The centre needed to be welcoming, yet robust, due to its location.

The building contains a café, nursery, consultation rooms, a number of offices and
multi-purpose suites. The centre has been very popular since opening in early 2006.
