This new building allows contractors to be trained and assessed before they are permitted to enter the working sections of Heysham 1 and Heysham 2 Power Stations.
The building contains three main workshops with adjoining classrooms and training areas. There are also a couple of large classrooms as well as three smaller seminar / classroom spaces.
The buildingís shape derives from the need for height in the workshops. The design also contains a reference to the adjacent former Visitor Centre, which the practice designed nearly 10 years before.
